What is the best way to clean (and degrease) oven hood screen filters?

by admin on May 3, 2010

I’ve got some screen-like filters in the hood of my oven. The blower that is used to suck up smoke from the stove does not work very well because I think that the screen filter needs to be cleaned. I imagine that just soaking the filters in water won’t do the trick and I’m looking for a solution that will completely degrease and de-gunk the filter. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Put the screen in the sink and soak it with liquid dish soap, then pour boiling water over it . Grease is very hard to come off and you can buy replacement filters at a hardware store if it still yucky.

I use the cleaner mean green, works great…just spray on and wipe off…so this several times….i also take the filters out and put into sink, spray, let soak and wash with warm water…good luck it is a dirty job but everyone has to do this one.
