I have used pressure cookers for over 40 years. I have had various makes and various types of Prestige Pressure cookers. but I think the Prestige 6 ltr Hi Dome is the best of all. It is so versatile It can be used for batch cooking and for families. It can also be used for small amounts. It is easy to use and easy to clean.

I chose a Prestige Hi Dome as I have had 40 years of fairly constant use from my old one, however, trying out my new one with a quick meal of mince, the weights did not settle and it did not reach pressure, after 40 years I do know how to use a pressure cooker. I would like to return it but since I have used it would you take it back?

This is my second pressure cooker in thirty five years. Quality item. Only reason I had to buy a new one is because my daughter borrowed my one and I haven’t seen it since. Great buy.

I have used Prestige pressure cookers for the past 50 years and couldn’t get a seal to fit my existing one.

Wonder of wonders, I managed to find one on Amazon at an amazing price – better than I expected as it has more capacity than I thought.

I am so pleased with this WMF pressure cooker.I did some google searching to find the best cooker and this one stood out. This 4.5ltr is just the right size for my wife and I.But if you are cooking for a family you need to go to at least the next size up.

The pressure cooker is very well made and easy to use.It makes no sound when cooking and easy to depressurise. The handle clips off for easy cleaning and the whole cooker looks and feels very well made.

You can buy cheaper pressure cookers but you get what you pay for.

This for me is a best buy.

I bought this pressure cooker as I was strongly recommend this German brand. Is more expensive that other pressure cookers but will last years and the service is excellent. Is more safer than the average and also keeps more the vitamins at boiling time. It is a muss in the kitchen specially if you have kids and you want to cook healthy. I had before other brands like Swan, Tefal, and another one that burnt… dont remember the brand…

WMF is by far the best in its range and the price at Amazon was the best!

This pressure cooker will last you at least a generation!

Can’t believe there are no reviews for this PC yet. I have owned it for months now and still am amazed how simple and functional it is compared to other pressure cookers I had owned. The quality is top range, this pan is very solid, easy to operate and clean. It’s very safe to use so you don’t need to worry it’ll explode all over your kitchen. It saves time cooking, great for meat stews and soups. I cooked beef stew today and it only took about an hour and meat was falling apart, soft and very tasty. Great buy!!

Having had very bad memories of my Mum’s old ‘Jiggle Top’ pressure cooker I was a bit sceptical as to how easy it would be to use one of the New Generation models. I did lots of research and eventually decided on this make and size.

Without exception it is wonderful. I have used and used it probably also due to the fantastic cookbook that I also bought which is also amazing (Great Vegetarian Cooking Under Pressure by Lorna Sass).

My one little (and it is little) gripe would be that the instruction book is a bit woolley when it comes to timings for cooking pulses and grains – hense the need for a good PC cookbook. Apart from that its easy to clean, easy to release pressure quickly and I think will be used many times each week in my household.

Well worth spending a bit on something so well constructed and designed.

Fantastic, only thing I put more water in as I was so used to loosing so much during cooking in my old pressure cooker – so my stock was a little bland. So easy to use. So good I have bought my sister the larger one for Christmas. If you have a prestige dome cooker, just remember when calculating what size you want to buy that this one does not have the dome, so in a way is slightly smaller. If you are used to the 4.5 litre prestige, then get the 6 litre WMF pressure cooker.

@SuperGrayOak yes but it still rusts even if you live near the water like we do here…sorry it just does…high grade too.

SuperGaryOak September 9, 2010 at 11:34 pm

@silentcovenant High quality kitchen grade stainless steel won’t rust unless you live underwater. I bought one for $79 and it has a 10 year warranty. I’ll own it till I die.

Yes you can use running cold water instead of the steam release. It’s recommended in their manual to lower the temperature faster for things like vegetables. Fast steam release can take about a minute, cold water takes about 10 seconds and it does make a difference when cooking things that take less than 4 minutes to cook.

nachise51 September 10, 2010 at 1:57 am

You don’t have to. There is the natural steam release, which is done by taking the cooker off the heat source and letting the pressure come down naturally. In some recipes, it completes the cooking process.

Using the instant steam release depressurizes the cooker very rapidly, allowing you to open the cooker in about a minute.

can I use running cold water intead of the steam release?

mystykit September 10, 2010 at 3:25 am

I have a set but haven’t used it for pressure cooking yet. Now I will. Thanks for posting it.
