My dad brought up the concern and I wanted to make sure. Thanks for any help!

Your dad is being silly. Microwave ovens are completely safe unless they ar e malfunctioning, so how would one know you were cooking rice in it rather than anything else?

Your dad is either playing a joke on you or he’s had too much beer!

I haven’t found this item comparable with a normal metal pressure cooker, however, it’s still a useful kitchen tool. One has to appreciate that microwave cooking is in anycase different from non-microwave cooking but can produce good results if one takes the trouble to experiment.

item was well packed and delivered on time. Instructions were pretty useless I thought giving just a few examples of meals that I’m unlikely ever to want. Overall, I found the instructions totally useless and everything had to be learned by trial and error. If only the instructions were reasonably comprehensive – like most cookery books or other cooking apparatus, I’d have probably awarded at least 1 and possibly 2 more stars.

This is not much good as a pressure cooker. But is OK for using in the microwave for food such as rice, it makes a good job of this. But you can’t put sufficient pressure on the plastic pot like an ordinary pressure cooker. I think it should just be advertised as a rice coooker.

Steaming rice will normally cause rice to be sticky as it takes long to cook and the grain will absorb more liquid. Your better off using a standard medium grain rice and simmering it stovetop.

I have one, (a hello kitty one!), but the rice always comes out waaaay too sweet and sticky. I’ve tried so many different japanese rice brands! Does anyone recommend a good brand?
