@kooktocook Celery.. hmmm I’ve never used celery, but I will tomorrow. I am using dried pinto beans (I have them soaking right now). I dislike kidney beans, so when we’re married don’t cook any LOL :P I like things very spicy too. I got some really tiny dried peppers that I plan on adding a good amount of. Now my mouth is watering! :D

@Texa41 I could eat some chili now actually. A tasty recipe. I mix it up now and then between canned beans and the dried. I a few other recipes here with dry pinto beans (just a good as the kidney beans). Add a tbsp. of each of the dry (perhaps more cumin/ salt to taste) and as much onion celery garlic that you like. A straight forward combo recipe really. I make it often. I do love a lot of the chili peppers though (add to your heat tolerance). mmmmmchili

I decided I want some chili tomorrow and of course I came to get your recipe :D

@moonlitephox I brown the meat to lessen up the meat fat (drain than add). Yep, cook it all up. Much like mum’s tomato meat sauce. cheers! KtC

u know…you don’t have to pre cook your ground beef/turkey… you can cook that as well with the other stuff…especially if you’re cooking it for 12 hours…..I use to do it with my chilli or other stuff in college with my crock pot.

kooktocook September 5, 2010 at 5:45 am

we must all keep asking why? cheers! KtC

sysman76 September 5, 2010 at 6:41 am

But why cooking precooked vegs for 12h?? it looks too much luquid stuff, not so great.. I should put into less less water.

kooktocook September 5, 2010 at 7:33 am

great tip, I will make note. I have not tried that. thanks. KtC

kooktocook September 5, 2010 at 9:43 am

Yep. ‘Chili’ is the word. I have a few variable recipes for chili, each usually quite popular once in the bowl.
The pork/ sauerkraut is a great one. cheers! KtC

elbob17 September 5, 2010 at 9:51 am

I must say, the term “meat chili” isn’t necessary.

elbob17 September 5, 2010 at 9:54 am

It’s not how I’d make chili but hey, how could you go wrong? It looks good.

My slow cooker gets broken out once a year on New Year’s for pork and sauerkraut.

Thank you for the comment. Irish stew sounds good too :) So many easy foods to prepare with a slowcooker. A few recipes here and more soon. Have a great day! KtC

UK not known for their fine cuisine. You can put corn and kidneys in it if you must. I like KtoC Down and dirty presentation. I can figure out how to make this my receipe. For me this is a quick road map to get me going in the right direction without the “chefs” ego getting in the way. (except my own) THANKS i think its great!
